Exciting plans have been unveiled to bring businesses in Haverhill even closer together with the appointment of a town centre manager.
The new role will be funded by a substantial sum, secured through grants and donations, and will see the successful applicant work closely with businesses in the town centre as well as Haverhill Town Council and West Suffolk Council.
It is the brainchild of the Heart of Haverhill business group, set up by ONE Haverhill Partnership to promote and drive footfall into the town centre, and could see an appointment made before Christmas.
John Mayhew, spokesman of Heart of Haverhill, said: “It is fair to say that a town centre manager has been pretty high on our wish list for a long time.
“So we are delighted to be now in a position to start advertising for the role, which will report into the business community.
“This position would not have been possible with the financial support of a number of organisations and we are thankful to each and every one of them.
“This is a crucial position as it will act as a conduit between the businesses in the heart of Haverhill and the three tiers of local Government.
“This close working will be of massive benefit to everyone who lives, works and visits our town.”
The vacancy comes hot on the heels of Heart of Haverhill launching their new LoyalFree digital shopping app which allows businesses to promote special offers for free.
Mr Mayhew said: “These are challenging times for town centres, but Heart of Haverhill is here to support our town and our businesses.
“We are pleased that the national lockdown is ending next week and all of our shops can reopen again.
“We feel they need the support of everyone now more than ever and we will do all we can to promote their business and the ‘Shop Local’ message in the run-up to Christmas and beyond.”
